794. GalballyIreland's most picturesque village in the valley of the majestic Glen of Aherlow. Ireland's overall National Tidytowns Winner in 1994. People from all walks of life have passed through this square - in the 1800s Bianconi's horses clattered through pulling stage coaches to the stables on the northern side of the square. During the famine people toiled in the work-houses erected on the southern side. The striking statue of one of the volunteers in the War of Independence commands the centre of the square.
